Elton John has fumed at his late mother after branding her a ‘sociopath’.
The 72-year-old appeared on CBS Sunday Morning, where he opened up about his relationship with Sheila Farebrother, who passed away in 2017.
And while he confessed that the pair did love each other, he also revealed his two sons, eight-year-old Zachary and Elijah, six, never met her in order to save them from criticism.
Talking about his husband David Furnish, the Honky Cat hitmaker said: ‘She never liked David. She never liked anybody. She never asked to see the children.
‘But I’m glad they didn’t meet her because she would have criticised them, like she criticised me. She couldn’t help herself. She’s a sociopath.’
Before his mum passed away just two years ago, the pair reconciled their relationship – however, Elton claims that things never changed.
‘The only thing that changed was I didn’t lose my temper,’ he stated.
‘I knew what was coming, and I let her get on with it. And I just said, “I love you, Mum,” and she said, “I love you, too. I don’t like you, but I love you. But I don’t like you.”‘
The iconic rock star has written about Sheila in his upcoming autobiography, Me: Elton John, and explained one time she hit out at his man.
In a heated row, the father-of-two claims she referred to David as a ‘f**king thing’ and it was enough to stop him from speaking to her for several years.
The mother and son duo had been arguing about Elton’s former PA Bob Halley, after Bob decided to quit.
According to The Mirror, the Amoreena singer said: ‘Mum was absolutely livid when she heard Bob had left — they’d always got on well.
‘She didn’t want to hear my version of events, and told me that Bob had been more of a son to her than I’d ever been.’
Elton says his mum then took aim at David, telling him: ‘You care more about that f***ing thing you married than your own mother.’

After that exchange, the pair were no longer on speaking terms and Elton didn’t invite his mum to his wedding when he and David married in 2014.
Sir Elton John’s official autobiography, Me: Elton John, is set for release on 15 October.
